Ep. 218: Taste the Painbow

Episode Summary

This week we’re breaking down WWE’s Hell in a Cell show from Sunday PLUS we’ll reminisce about the cell gimmick from years past and whether the match gimmick losing blood and brutality has also meant a decline in its appeal.

Episode Notes

Such Hell! Much Havoc! WWE showcased two major events this past week.

Sunday was the latest edition of Hell in a Cell. This year we were lucky enough to see three really solid versions of the titular gimmick match. Roman Reigns retained his championship while Bayley and Drew lost theirs. We’ll talk about where these stories could play out from here.

Plus, NXT held Halloween Havoc on Wednesday with a full slate of spoooOOOOooky matches to enjoy… even if we would have like to see some different outcomes.

All of that plus  we’ll cover The Young Bucks final (?) tag title match in AEW, the possibility of MJF joining the Inner Circle and the return of Eric Bischoff to wrestling television.

Main Event

Before it was just another gimmick match in WWE, Hell in a Cell used to be THE gimmick match of WWE. But now that the cell is a little taller, a little redder and a lot less bloodier, does it still have the same appeal? What changes have we noticed? And what were some of the best HIAC matches in history? We discuss it all.

The Three Count

Julian put over Paige explaining what her Twitch stream has meant to her.

Hal put over Luchasaurus on the Inner Circle town hall.

Hosted by Hal Lublin and Julian Burrell.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.
